Puma Cubs raised money and awareness for WaterAid through Million Hands
During 2016, Puma Cubs have been doing their bit for a Million Hands campaign. First thing was to choose which topic to support. Puma Cubs chose to help underprivileged children gain access to clean water by supporting Wateraid UK. Over several cub evenings, leaders and visitors from WaterAid UK helped the cubs to understand how we use and waste water at home and how precious water is in underdeveloped countries around the world and how WaterAid use the money from donations to support different projects around the world. The topic culminated in a pay-as-you-go games evening where the cubs planned what games to bring/make and run at a cubs evening and how much they will charge (from 1p to 10p). The event evening was held on 22 November 2016 and was attended by parents, families, friends and other members of 1st Braughing Scout Group and together the Cubs raised an impressive £185.20 for WaterAid UK and were rewarded with a Community Impact badge.
Puma Cubs leaders are very proud of our cubs and WaterAid UK told us “Thank you all so much! More people will now have safe water thanks to the Puma Cubs!”

We are an active local group of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We have one Beaver colony and one Cub pack that meet in Puckeridge at the Community Centre on Tuesday evenings and another Cub pack that meets in Braughing on Wednesday evenings.
We have two Scout troops that meet on Friday nights both at the Standon and Puckeridge Community Centre. We are a co-ed group (ie boys and girls!) and open to young people from every faith and background.
We also have a Scout and Guide band - the only one in the county!
